RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The position makes a key contribution to changing the energy base from fossil fuels to sustainable energy as part of Röhm's transformation to meet its climate goals.
  • Evaluation of the potential of renewable energy resources for Röhm's global products and locations.
  • Development of strategic concepts and supporting the implementation of current and new technologies used to convert sustainable resources into usable energy (e.g. electricity, steam, hydrogen).
  • Analysis of the economic impact of Röhm’s energy transition from fossil based to carbon-reduced and eventually carbon-zero at the micro and macro economic level; Evaluation of the environmental impacts of current and future renewable energy systems.
  • Evaluation/coordination of renewable energy projects and balance of impact with Röhm’s Track 2030 sustainability goals.
  • Coordination and evaluation of the changes resulting from the infrastructure conversions at Röhm locations/sites; management of the interfaces pertaining to the energy transformation with external companies at multi-user chemical sites.
  • Concept development and evaluation of alternatives to the CO2-neutral procurement of energy (location-specific) in close coordination with Energy Management.
  • Creation of transparency of the EU CO2 certificate balance at Röhm (comparison with project portfolio), screening pending changes in statutory provisions. Monitoring of equivalent programmes outside of Europe, with focus on China and US.
     

REQUIREMENTS

  • University or master’s degree or doctorate in energy management, chemical engineering, engineering, in the field of process engineering, environmental engineering or similar
  • Multiple years of professional experience in the chemical industry with experience in global and regional energy markets (fossil fuels and new, sustainable forms of energy), such as with the hydrogen economy, as well as a deep understanding of the commercial relationships in the energy industry, between chemical products and value chains
  • Project experience as well as good mediation skills in managing specialist interdisciplinary teams
  • Strong communicator and able to work in a team, with a pronounced sense of responsibility, enjoys working with international teams and different cultures, enjoys sharing and developing knowledge with others, as well as continuously expanding their own horizon, strong skills to inspire teams and integrate perspectives
  • Analytical and strategic skills, openness and able to think in terms of options and scenarios
  • Highly proactive, flexible and resilient, strong personal interest in sustainability
  • Confident using MS Office and SAP, database systems and modern communication media
  • Very good German and English skills, speaking and writing
