WHAT THE ROLE DELIVERS
To manage the implementation and continuous improvement of the plant Safety, Health, Contractor Management, Quality systems, and Loss Control programs. These include employee safety and wellness, process safety, industrial hygiene, loss prevention, regulatory compliance, accident reduction programs, fire protection system, Roehm Safety Program, VPP, and Responsible Care 14001 Program. Site responsibilities also include plant security and all aspects of the quality program including manufacture, shipping receiving, technical services and process support.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- The Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Compliance Manager will ensure that the Safety, Health and Wellness, Loss Control, Quality and Environmental Compliance Programs are being implemented and in compliance with program, local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
- Provide information, advise, and interpretations for safety, health, and environmental procedures in accordance with OSHA Laws, Roehm Standards, and local, state and federal environmental regulations. Also monitor changes in the laws and standards.
- Provide safety training for newly hired and existing personnel. Continuously develop and improve the safety training. Ensure adequate facilities, equipment, and training is provided for environmental compliance by all employees.
- Coordinate and work with the engineering and production departments to develop a comprehensive Process Safety Management System to include HazOps, Operational Readiness Review, Process Library, accident data bases, and computerized due-date tracking for Process Safety to support OSHA VPP STAR.
- Maintains the Roehm Safety, Health, Loss Control, and Emergency Procedure Manuals as well as the facilities Hazard Communication Program, MSDS data base and detailed filing system of all pertinent environmental documents.
- Ensure that the fire protection system is tested in accordance with NFPA and company insurer's requirements and provide support to the Maintenance department for maintaining the proper operation of fire protection system.
- Controls collection, storage, transportation, and disposal of all plant waste materials, i.e., non-hazardous and hazardous.
- Ensure that all regulatory reporting requirements are completed to include "SARA Title III form R's, AR Annual Hazardous Waste Report; Storm Water Discharge Monitoring Reports, and company sustainability reports.
- Coordinate the audits of waste disposal facilities to ensure their compliance with regulatory agencies due to Roehm cradle-to-grave responsibility.
- Investigate and implement methods, materials, and equipment to minimize, eliminate, reclaim waste, VOC emissions and reduce the potential for environmental incidents.
- Prepare permit applications as necessary for the continued growth and operation of the plant.
- Coordinate the CORE Safety Program to ensure that all requirements are met and that all necessary information is documented.
- Classify, investigate, and assure documented reporting of all injuries, accidents, and potentially serious incidents.
- Review all engineering and construction plans impacting occupational safety and health, and environmental affairs.
- Responsible for the Industrial Hygiene program which includes employee exposure monitoring and control of chemicals and noise, hearing conservation program, ventilation systems, site chemical registered, and respiratory protection program.
- Schedule and conduct periodic fire drills and emergency response drills.
- The Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality Compliance Manager (identified and the SHE&Q manager going forth) will be a resource for the job certification program and provide safety training to certify employees.
- Acts as liaison between Roehm Osceola and Roehm Corporate and Environmental Departments.
WHAT WE ARE SEEKING
- BS in IH, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent technical degree
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations
- Knowledge of Roehm operations, processes, and products
- Five years industrial plant experience with Quality and Safety experience.
- Good Organizational skills are required to help prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent Human Relations and Communications Skills.
- Computer skills and knowledge of SAP excel and other Microsoft programs
