WHAT THE ROLE DELIVERS

This position will be responsible for the supporting the Bay City, TX site in their operational procurement requirements. This position is responsible for converting purchase requisitions into purchase orders to secure parts and services. Additional responsibilities include conducting small dollar bids, analyzing quotations, scheduling deliveries, maintaining master data in SAP, and supporting the Sourcing Manager Technical Procurement with implementing strategies and building and updating contracts in SAP. The candidate will be required to comply with Roehm America’s Procurement Policy and act in an honest and ethical manner. The Indirect Buyer will comply with the guidelines set forth in the ISO Quality and Environmental Management System and execute his or her responsibilities as defined in the RC 14001 Management System. 

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Acts as main point of contact for the procurement needs of assigned sites, independently processing purchase requests  
    • Responsible for purchasing MRO items and services and equipment for small capital projects that are handled by the assigned site’s engineering group by converting electronic purchase requests into purchase orders. Utilize SAP to perform daily transactions and maintain key data such as supplier contracts, info records, and source lists. 

    • Responsible for vendor selection from vendors who have been approved by the sourcing management team and Integrity Next, who are capable of fulfilling contracts according to Roehm America drawings and specifications 

    • Ensure suppliers have proper insurance and safety documents 

    • Conducts tenders below 100M USD independently and supports the responsible Sourcing Manager Technical Procurement for tenders above 100M USD  

  • Daily interaction with site personnel, strategic buyers, Accounts Payable, Roehm America Procurement management and other Roehm America business and service units as well as external suppliers and contractors 

    • Resolve invoice discrepancies in Invoice Track 

    • Assists in providing training and troubleshooting for the user community in SAP 

    • Act as single point of contact and process expert, responsible for training customers at assigned sites on existing procurement tools and how those tools can be used in their daily work (IVT, ARIBA etc.) 

  • The strategic focus for this position includes:  

    • Works closely with Sourcing Manager Technical Procurement and Lead Buyers in Germany when prequalifying new suppliers and implementing new Tier Agreements  

    • Enforces compliance to Roehm America Purchasing Policy and Procedures 

    • Negotiate pricing and terms to ensure competitive costs, quality, and delivery options for small dollar purchases 

 

WHAT WE ARE SEEKING

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills required 

  • Competency in using Microsoft Office Suite required, particularly Word and Excel 

  • Ability to multi task in fast paced plant environment 

  • Proven team work and problem solving skills 

  • Self-motivated contributor with the ability to work independently through managed objectives 

  • Comfortable with a high-volume, processing role 

  • Bachelor’s degree, or minimum 2 years in college as well as 1-3 years’ purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment 

  • Knowledge of SAP Materials Management module preferred 

  • It is preferred to have a knowledge of business law, accounting principles, state tax laws, "Occupational Safety & Health Act" (OSHA), "Environmental Protection Agency" (EPA) and state licensing regulations, as well as, a basic understanding of Quality Management Systems and their development. 

  • Decisions requiring higher authority referred to Sourcing Manager Technical Procurement or Head of Procurement USA.
