WHAT THE ROLE DELIVERS

The Instrument and Electrical (I&E) Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting the maintenance and repair services of all instruments, control systems, electrical equipment and/or process analyzers at the facility. Applies knowledge of electronics principles in determining equipment malfunctions, and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation. Coordinate with Operations, Engineering and Maintenance Planning to align on priorities to successfully execute critical work to maintain equipment availability.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Type of work can include but not limited to inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, installing, calibrating and maintaining instrumentation equipment including transmitters, valves, I/P, actuators, flow meters, RTD, thermocouples, motors, breakers, transformers, relays, fuses, resistors, AC Drives, PLC's, etc.
  • Calibrates and trouble shoots systems using drawings, field inspections, system readings, and input from other departments
  • Must be able to work and calibrate Analyzers, PHs, 02 LELs, and NIR
  • Calibration of various types of IDPs, limits, SOVs, magnetic switches
  • Perform electrical work from 24v DC to 4160 AC
  • Perform DCS, electrical and instrumentation installation, preventive maintenance, and repair work
  • Instrument calibration and troubleshooting, including (LT,FT,TT,DPT, switches-level, pressure and flow, flow meters, micro motions, signets, Siemens
  • Maintain advanced monitoring devices (gas, flame, or fire detectors, vibration, and temperature monitors)
  • Make recommendations to the Maintenance Team on any corrective measures that will result in greater efficiency, quality and economy of operations
  • Provide responsive maintenance services to the site by completing scheduled work orders
  • Keep accurate records, update files and maintain the plants PM system.
  • Proactively inspects operating areas making note of needed repairs
  • Provide guidance to contract maintenance and construction projects, as assigned. Provide training and technical support
  • Responsible for ensuring work permits and associated safety equipment are available to perform work
  • Accountable for parts checked out of inventory, salvage of good parts and proper disposal of bad parts
  • Ensures daily work meets EHS compliance and supports continuous improvement in EHS performance
  • Other duties as assigned

 

WHAT WE ARE SEEKING

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Graduation from a technical trade school and/or completion of an apprenticeship, certification or associate degree program is preferred.
  • 5 years related experience in process control instrumentation
  • Knowledge of relevant technical equipment, reliability drivers and troubleshooting techniques
  • Working knowledge of instrument, electrical, and analyzer standards as applied in petrochemical industry and general knowledge of various Codes (e.g. API, ASME, ANSI, NFPA, ISA)
  • Must be able to read manuals, P&IDs, loop drawings
  • Must be a self-starter and able to perform duties with little to no supervision
  • Knowledge of DCS systems, analyzers, transmitters, valves, PLC’s and variable speed drives
  • Proficiency with a variety of I/E hand tools meters, instrument calibration equipment etc.
  • Working knowledge of electricity, electrical systems and motors
  • Can read and understand P&ID's and schematic wiring diagrams
  • Knowledge of EHS and process safety standards
  • Ability to exercise sound decision making, and judgment aligned with department objectives
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, written and oral
  • The ability to develop skills within the team
  • SAP experience in areas of Plant Maintenance
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite tools
  • On-call ability required, 24/7 operations. Ability to work overtime and on nights, weekends, or holidays, as necessary.
  • Must possess or obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card prior to first day of employment.
  • Possess a current, valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the United States.
  • Must follow all plant safety guidelines and policies, which includes the wearing of fire-retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Position requires ability to climb, bend, lift and perform a wide range of physical activities; ability to work at various heights; entry into confined spaces; work in various weather conditions; ability to listen and follow instructions.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Testing Requirements
    • Successful candidates will be required to take a physical examination, which includes a drug and fitness for duty exam and criminal background check
