OVERVIEW

 

The Technical Marketing Specialist - Mexico (TMS) is the regional subject matter expert in automotive & LEO (Lighting, Electronics & Optics) application development, approval process, qualification, structural and engineering analysis, part and tool design and, process optimization. Additionally, this role will be responsible to promote Roehm’s products to the Automotive & LEO industry with workshops, webinars and other product marketing initiatives.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Act as a subject matter expert on automotive & LEO products and applications. 
    • Provide product recommendation and manage qualification.  Advise on part and tool design, structural & engineering analysis, process optimization, and development of new applications in automotive. 
    • Support account managers in the identification, development and closure of new business opportunities, account plan, and market development activities. 
    • Lead product-marketing activities such as: development of technical marketing presentation, product & application literature, technical product portfolio activities, technical competitive intelligence, technical library.
    • Train and coach Roehm’s Sales & Marketing, Customer Service, distributors on the performance, value proposition and use of our products.
  • Lead investigation of product / application performance issues and complaints, insuring timely resolution using problem solving techniques, such as Six Sigma methodology, while utilizing field and laboratory resources. 
    • Assist quality and manufacturing team in investigation and resolution of quality complaints. 
    • Manage customer’s technical requests and needs. 
    • Maintain Roehm’s approved materials list.
  • Collaborate with Global R&D, manufacturing and commercial groups to map customers’ needs and conduct field trials in support of new product introduction and product performance optimization projects.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned by management.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Bachelors of Science degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Materials Science or a similar science/engineering degree with 5 years minimum experience in the plastic industry; or Master’s degree with 3 years of experience in the plastics industry.
  • Strong background in polymer science, plastic processing technologies (injection molding, extrusion, thermoforming etc.), process optimization and DOE’s. 
  • Demonstrated experience in problem investigation and problem solving
  • Self-driven with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Project management skills.
  • Analytical thinker with an ability to identify problems and develop a strategy to provide solutions. Six Sigma Green Belt would be an asset.
  • The ideal candidate would also have
  • Experience in automotive, appliances, lighting, coextrusion and blends/compounds
  • Understanding of customer end-use applications, automotive specifications, standards, requirement, qualification process and competitive materials.
  • Understanding of mold and part design, structural analysis, FMEA as well as CAE and CAD simulation and modelling software (Moldflow, Solidworks etc.).
  • Understanding of product marketing and technical selling process.
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively within a matrixed multicultural and multifunctional environment. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.  Experience with SAP/CRM would be a plus
  • Must be willing to travel at least 50% of the time domestically and occasional International travel.
